FTR is undergoing an evolution in AEW. At one time, they were considered the greatest tag team in the world. However, FTR has slid down the card over the last few years. The tandem from Asheville hopes to turn things around by turning over a new leaf. FTR’s heel turn was cemented at Dynasty when they hospitalized Cope. Now, they’re under new management and have turned their back on a couple more Hall of Famers on Dynamite. FTR Gets A New Agent In Stokley Hathaway
For the last few years, many people believed that FTR needed something else to get to the next level. That catapult might just be their new agent.
The world was shocked on Dynamite when Stokley Hathaway introduced FTR to the ring. Stokley hasn’t been seen on TV since splitting from Kris Statlander in fall 2024.
FTR has gotten into some legal trouble with AEW onscreen over the past month. Since taking out Cope, they’ve continued their destructive paths across the AEW roster.
After defeating 2.0 on the last episode of Collision, FTR continued their onslaught on their competitors. The dangerous tandem took out Matt Menard with multiple Spike Piledrivers. Daniel Garcia attempted to make a save and found himself met with the same fate as Menard. The assault continued until The Paragon made the save.
AEW fined FTR for their actions over the last few weeks. On the April 23, 2025 Dynamite, Stokley leaned into his lawyer persona to protect his new clients.
Stokley Hathaway promised to get Cash Wheeler’s suspension removed from his record and fines against FTR reimbursed to the former Tag Team Champions. The manager has rubbed elbows with many big names in the past, including MJF and Jade Cargill. We look forward to seeing more between Stokley and FTR in the coming weeks.
FTR Attacks Legends Rock N Roll Express
The Rock N Roll Express was in New Orleans to attend AEW Dynamite. These Hall of Fame legends were shown in the crowd during the telecast.
After Stokley Hathaway announced his partnership with FTR, Dax Harwood got on the microphone to address the legendary tag team in attendance. He acted honored by the presence of Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton. In fact, Dax invited the Rock N Roll Express into the ring so that The Top Guys could pay their respects properly.
The Rock N Roll Express obliged, making their way into the ring. Pretty quickly, FTR started ripping into the legends.
Eventually, FTR revealed their new shirt. It was brandished with the words: “Living Legend Killers.” To add insult to the blatant disrespect already on display, Stokley offered a free T-shirt to the Rock N Rolls as a gift.
Things got heated to the point where FTR attacked the Rock N Roll Express. FTR hit Ricky Morton with a Spike Piledriver to the shock of the crowd. Thankfully, The Paragon hit the ring to make the second save from FTR in one week.
FTR and Rock N Roll Express’ History
FTR attacks legends for hobbies these days. However, they have a long history of putting the boots to the Rock N Roll Express. The two legendary teams first crossed paths in August 2020 on AEW Dynamite.
During this episode, FTR hosted a “Tag Team Appreciation Night.” Dax and Cash invited Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and the Rock N Roll Express to watch the festivities. However, tensions boiled over between the Rock N Rolls and Tully Blanchard.
Tully Blanchard was once the manager for FTR, so the tag team attacked the Express. Just like this past week’s episode of Dynamite, Ricky Morton received a Spike Piledriver back then, too!
FTR and the Rock’ N Roll Express would finally lock horns in the Big Time Wrestling promotion. This match took place in 2022 during the farewell tour for the Rock N Roll Express, and FTR picked up the win.
The last time the Rock N Roll Express was on AEW TV was in January 2025. They were kidnapped by the Death Raiders, with no conclusion given to that storyline. FTR wasn’t a part of the story, nor did they make the save. Suffice it to say that Ricky and Robert should stop accepting invites from FTR!
